Last week marked the launch of an exciting initiative, as EMC is sponsoring the Council for Information Advantage – a collection of 10 global CIOs and high-level executives from some of the biggest brands you definitely know – to share practical strategies and advice on gaining a competitive advantage through information. For each of the next four quarters, the Council will come together to discuss a set of topics – all about how to get information management right.

I believe it’s always beneficial to get a bunch of really smart thought-leaders together to discuss new and innovative ways to take something to the next level and, hopefully, use that insight to make real progress (I won’t even add a political comment here…). So often we can get so tied up within our experiences and points of view that we fail to recognize the value that can come from looking across the industry to understand both the key issues that are impeding organizations as well as share ideas for solutions.
